As the daughter of an Officer in the Air Force, the first half of my life was spent moving from one location to another, Germany, (where I was born), Louisiana, New

Mexico, Florida, Maine.  Growing up I hated it, always leaving friends behind, but now I see what a wonderful opportunity it was.  Each new destination was a new adventure, and opened my eyes to the diversity of this fabulous country we live in. I have fond memories of each and every place we landed!

My first introduction to Mendocino was in 1963 when two pivotal changes were happening in our family.  My father, who just retired from the Air Force, was embarking on life as a civilian, and my grandparents, already retired, were building their dream home just south of Fort Bragg.  We stayed with our grandparents here while my father looked for a job in Southern California with an Airline Company.

I suppose that is when I fell in love with the Mendocino Coast.  We did eventually settle in Southern California, but would come up to the coast as often as we could.

Fast-forward many years, and a 9-year-old son, later, I finally decided to make my home here.  It is the best move I have ever made.  I have been here for 31 years now.

I worked as a Dental Office Auxiliary and Office Manager from 1981 to 1999, which was, for me, a wonderful way to get to know many members of our unique and diverse community. And it is a community that gives back, as well!  There is no end of volunteering to be done, and volunteer I do!  I have been involved in several community organizations, and am still currently a member of Soroptimist International, Mendocino.  It is another good way to get to know our community.

My son, who was 9 when we moved here, flourished in the local schools.   He also became smitten with the “stage” when he became involved with Gloriana Opera Company, a wonderful performance organization that year after year puts together a musical extravaganza that delights us all!   In fact, he ended up choosing “drama” as his college major at San Francisco State University.   He is now married to a wonderful woman, and has two beautiful children who provide no end of joy for us.

It was here in Mendocino that I met my 2nd husband, Forrest Francis, a dashing Mendocino Volunteer Fireman and a licensed Land Surveyor.  23 years later, we are living happily ever after, living in our sweet home we built 20 years ago in Mendocino.   We feel lucky to live in an area where “quality” of life is more important that “quanity”.

I became a licensed Realtor in October of 2000.  It has turned out to be the perfect career change for me.  I love every aspect of it; the interaction with people, sharing the lore of the Mendocino Coast and its rich history, with folks from out of the area,

and helping to find the right property for my customers.  More often than not, customers turn in to friends.  I look forward to many more years of providing my services as a realtor.
